What Is A Complete Skateboard?
A complete is the full package: a 7-ply maple deck, a pair of trucks matched to the deck's width, four urethane wheels, eight bearings, griptape applied and hardware bolted, nothing else to buy, nothing to assemble. Completes emerged in the 1970s as the accessible way into skating, and modern versions from proper skate brands have closed most of the quality gap with component builds: real maple, real urethane and geometry that actually works.
One bit of advice we would give is: dont go cheap: Only completes from genuine skate brands will have good enough build quality to actually make skating fun and give you chance to improve. Supermarket and toy-shop boards look similar and skate horribly, sticky bearings, slippery grip, wheels like clay. Every complete we stock comes from a real skateboard company and gets looked over in the shop before it goes out.
Complete vs Custom Build
A complete is the right call for first boards, kids, returning skaters and budgets, one decision, one price, ready immediately. A custom build costs more but lets you choose every component: pick a deck (free griptape included, and it counts toward your stamp card), match your trucks to its width, choose wheels for your terrain and add bearings, our guides walk you through each decision, and we'll gladly spec the whole thing with you over the phone or in store.
The honest progression most skaters follow: start on a complete, then upgrade components as they wear out, and you'll arrive at a custom setup naturally within a year or so.
What Size Complete Skateboard?
Same width logic as decks: UK shoe size 6–8 suits 7.75"–8.0", 9–11 suits 8.0"–8.25", 12+ goes 8.25"+. For kids, micro and junior completes (7.25"–7.75") run shorter and narrower to suit smaller riders, a properly sized board makes learning dramatically easier than wrestling an adult-sized one. Younger beginners also benefit from slightly softer wheels for rolling over rough ground while they find their feet.

Are complete skateboards good for beginners?
They're the ideal start, balanced, brand-made setups without the component decision overload. The skills transfer perfectly when you eventually build custom.
What size complete for a child?
Roughly: under-8s on 7.25"–7.5" micro and mini boards, 8–12s on 7.5"–7.75", teens onto 7.75"–8.0"+ depending on shoe size. If in doubt, message us their age and shoe size and we'll point at the right board.
Can I upgrade parts on a complete later?
Yeah course man, that's the classic path. Wheels and bearings first as they wear, then a fresh deck (free grip, stamp on the card), and within a year you've evolved into a fully custom setup.
Is a complete cheaper than building a custom setup?
Yeah quite a bit, completes bundle everything at well under the cost of buying components individually. Custom builds win on spec and personalisation; completes win on value and simplicity.
Why not buy a cheap supermarket skateboard?
