Ace Trucks is a skateboard truck company from Los Angeles, set up by Steve Ruge and Joey Tershay in 2007. With the best turning radius in the skateboard truck game, Ace trucks are loved for their curving powers, turing your skateboard into a surfboard with wheels.

Built by skaters for skaters, and with a proper understanding of what makes trucks perform, Ace Trucks has become the go-to choice for riders who prioritise responsive turning and quality construction. Founded by industry legends Joey Tershay and Steve "Shrewgy" Ruge in 2007, Ace set out to create the best performing trucks skateboarding had ever seen. What started as a mission to fill gaps in the truck market has evolved into one of the most respected names in skateboard hardware. Known for their surf-inspired geometry that delivers loose, responsive turns, Ace trucks offer that distinctive "surfy" feel that once you try, you'll never want to ride anything else.

Ace Trucks Brand History

Ace Trucks was born from decades of truck-building expertise and a proper understanding of what skaters actually need. Joey Tershay's background with Independent Trucks gave him the knowledge to design trucks that would push performance boundaries, while staying true to classic geometry that works. The early years were tough, slowly building a team and reputation while perfecting their designs. But by staying focused on quality without compromise, Ace gradually earned respect from skaters who could feel the difference. The game changer came in 2021 with the release of the AF1, the strongest cast truck on earth. With Joey Pulsifer joining as the third partner in 2017, bringing fresh innovations for strength and functionality, Ace had the team to really make their vision a reality. The Ace AF1's revolutionary casting process delivers 70% stronger aluminium at a molecular level, proving that Ace wasn't just about smooth turns. They were pushing the boundaries of what trucks could handle and more firsts soon followed. From their flagship locations in LA and Barcelona, Ace continues to innovate while staying true to their core mission: creating the best performing trucks in skateboarding.

Ace Trucks Skate Team

Ace has assembled one of the sickest teams in skateboarding, spanning generations and styles while staying true to their "Pilots" concept. The roster reads like a who's who of skateboarding legends: Brian Anderson, Kevin "Spanky" Long, Tom Penny, Ronnie Sandoval, Raven Tershy, Eli Reed, Tom Remillard, and Max Palmer. UK representation comes through Jamie Platt, Harry Lintell, and Mike Arnold. What's proper about the Ace team is how diverse it is. Including every type of skater tech wizards to bowl fiends to street legends, each rider brings their own flavour while contributing to truck development. Ace have consistently hooked up pro's who they know will be proper collaborators who will help to ensure every Ace truck performs at the highest level.

Ace Trucks FAQs

What makes Ace trucks different from other brands?

Ace trucks are known for their surf-inspired geometry that delivers looser, more responsive turns than most brands. The oversized axles and beveled hanger ends provide better bearing performance, while their proprietary casting process makes AF1s the strongest cast trucks available.

Which Ace truck model should I choose?

Ace Classic Trucks are perfect for skaters wanting proven performance at a great price point. AF1s offer maximum strength for heavy skating and technical tricks. AF1 Hollows give you AF1 strength with reduced weight, ideal for street and technical skating where board feel matters.

How do Ace trucks feel compared to other brands?

Ace trucks have a distinctive "surfy" feel with deeper, more responsive turns than brands like Independent or Thunder. They're particularly loved by skaters who prefer looser truck setups and fluid carving. Once you try them, you'll understand why riders describe them as uniquely smooth.

What size Ace truck do I need for my board?

For 7.75"-8.25" boards, choose size 33. For 8.25"-8.75" boards, go with size 44. For 8.75"-9.125" boards, pick size 55. Ace trucks are designed to match perfectly with these board width ranges for optimal performance.

Are AF1 trucks worth the extra cost over Classics?

AF1s use superior materials and construction, making them significantly stronger than Classics. If you skate hard, do bigger tricks, or want the latest technology, AF1s are worth the upgrade. For most street skating, Classics perform brilliantly and offer excellent value.

Do I need to buy bushings separately?

No, all Ace trucks come with properly matched bushings designed for their geometry. Classics use standard bushings, while AF1s feature hand-poured 96a pivot cups and refined bushing shapes for optimal performance straight out of the box.

Can I use standard hardware with Ace trucks?

Yes, Ace trucks use standard mounting patterns and work with regular skateboard hardware. However, some riser pad brands (Diamond, Girl, Independent, Loaded, Paris) aren't compatible with AF1 baseplates, so check compatibility if using risers.
