SKATEBOARDING NEWS THIS WEEK
Homeboy - "POST SCRIPT" Video
Homeboy - Skaters choice of Baggy Jeans in the 90's
Homeboy, one of the original baggy jeans brands, was initially launched in the late 80s, sponsoring skaters like Santa Cruz pro Clause Grapke and rappers like Cypress Hill and members of the Wu-Tang Clan, gaining significant popularity with skaters in the 90s. Still going strong, Jürgen and his son Julian run Homeboy from Germany.
Homeboy Introduce Aimu Yamazuki
Aimu Yamazauki is introduced as Homeboy's latest rider added to the roster with a sick part with a bunch of ledge and gap bangers one after the other, filmed brilliantly, behind a sexy Ashanti tune.
After Aimu's part, there are a bunch of other badass parts with a great soundtrack throughout.
Maarten Sneep - DEADSTOCK
Jay Maarten Sneep's latest project - Deadstock
Free Skate Mag brings us Jay Maarten Sneep's 'Deadstock' video, featuring about 20 skaters in one big crew video with an ambient vibe; the art style is subtle, but completely surrounds every clip through the soundtrack and B-roll in the video.
Great colours, angles on 4:3 footage
I think Jay did a great job filming every clip too in 4:3 with great fisheye movement and colours. The spots are all nice and bright, and very gritty and relatable. I don't know if I'm tripping through but it seems some VX footy is mixed in with the HD... ILLEGAL!
They are destroying SKATEBORDINGS MECCA - the History of Skateboardings most famous Spot
The history of Macba, Spain and its Skateboarding History
This video by Top10Sk8 on YouTube isn't the typical video to make the weekly blog. However, this channel does an excellent job of providing insight into Macba's skateboarding history, showcasing its iconic spots, the vibrant culture and community around it, and the recent challenges threatening its future.
KASSO #3 & #4 | Japanese Skateboarding TV Show
The Japanese Game Show that the whole skateboarding world has been watching
Produced by TBS, responsible for Ninja Warrior and Takeshi's Castle, Japanese Game Show Kasso has received positive feedback from the skateboarding world as a new concept.
Kasso creates unique, crazy obstacle courses for skateboarding, and challenges traditional skateboard contests with a fun new format that hasn't been seen before. After the first 2 episodes went viral, new episodes were highly anticipated.
Ottowa's Most Insane Skateboarding Tricks
Justin Behan goes through Ottawa's Skateboarding Archives
Ottawa has been home to some of the most iconic skateboarding moments in Canada. With Vancouver and Montreal being featured in Tony Hawks Underground, I'm surprised Ottawa wasn't in one of the games, I don't think it was. anyway. Who cares! Does anyone read these manuscripts of my mind? I wouldn't.
Anyway... Join Justin Behan as he showcases the best tricks ever landed at legendary Ottawa spots like Archives, Dow’s Rail, Hintonburg, and more. he does a great job of painting the pictures of memorable Canadian sessions.
Jacker - Coleega
Jacker take a trip to Spain and France
After releasing their full-length video Jacker - Rush, Jacker took a team trip to Spain and France for a more relaxed project.
Although it was a trip to cool down after filming for the full-length, this tour vid has clips hotter than chips. A bright and colourful European video with good filming, trick selection and a great soundtrack.
Frederick Schneider - U DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE
An underground skate videographer from Oslo - Frederick Schneider
Frederick Schneider is a skate videographer from Norway, that's all I know! This 7-minute crew video was filmed in the capital of Norway over four months in the summer of '24.
It features a kind of dull, soft filming style which I really dig and features some banging clips.
"Screen privacy" by Troposphere
A full length by Teemu Metsäkylä
I've managed to source another wicked underground crew full-length, this time from the Troposphere crew. Again, a great crew with some sick trick-and-spot selections!
I am sorry, I can't find much info on this crew, I think they're from 🇫🇮, but may be wrong! Wherever they're from, what is clear is that they shred and have a good time. I'll be keeping an eye on their insta and YouTube
Gustaf Johansson - HATTRICK
Gustaf Johansson's 25-minute project
Okay, I've outdone myself this week with the underground full-lengths. Here's Gustaf Johansson's one, full of bangers, with great filming and art style.
I'm not writing anymore... this blog's been the longest one to date. I'm sorry, I can't review it, I've ran out of steam. The wheels spinning but the hamster's dead. Watch the video yourself!
