Magenta Skateboards
Magenta Skateboards is an independent French skateboard brand founded in 2010 by Vivien Feil, Jean Feil and Soy Panday.
Built around a love of street skating, travelling, art and doing things on their own terms, Magenta has developed one of the most recognisable identities in European skateboarding. The brand has never been about chasing the biggest tricks or following whatever the rest of the industry is doing - style, creativity and the experience of skating a city have always mattered just as much.
The Start of Magenta Skateboards
Magenta was started in 2010 as an alternative to the increasingly corporate direction skateboarding was taking at the time.
Vivien Feil, Jean Feil and Soy Panday wanted to create something that reflected the kind of skateboarding they actually cared about - independent, creative and centred around skating streets with friends.
That approach shaped Magenta from the beginning and still sits at the heart of the brand today.
A Different Side of Street Skateboarding
Magenta has always had a slightly different idea of what makes good street skating.
Rather than everything being about the biggest stair set or hardest rail, Magenta videos put plenty of emphasis on style, lines, unusual spots and using the city around you.
A curb, bank, wall or bit of rough pavement can be just as interesting as an obvious skate spot if you approach it the right way.
Travel has also played a huge part in Magenta. The brand's videos regularly explore different cities and skate scenes around the world, giving just as much attention to the atmosphere and people surrounding the skating as the tricks themselves.
Soy Panday and Magenta Artwork
Art is a massive part of Magenta's identity.
Co-founder Soy Panday has been responsible for much of the brand's art direction, creating the distinctive illustrations and graphics that appear across Magenta decks, clothing and accessories.
The Magenta Plant logo has become one of the brand's most recognisable symbols, regularly appearing alongside seasonal artwork, hand-drawn graphics and collaborations.
Even when the artwork changes completely between collections, Magenta normally still looks like Magenta.

Magenta Skateboard Decks
Skateboard decks are still at the centre of Magenta.
The brand produces a mix of pro models, team boards and shaped decks, usually paired with Soy Panday's artwork and seasonal graphic series.
Magenta decks use quality maple construction and come in a changing selection of widths, shapes and concaves, giving the brand plenty of variety without losing its identity.

More Than a Skateboard Brand
Magenta's approach goes beyond simply making boards.
The brand produces clothing, accessories, videos, artwork and collaborations that all sit within the same world. There's a strong connection between the way Magenta presents its products and the type of skateboarding behind them.
That consistency is a big part of why the brand has lasted. Magenta doesn't feel like it's trying to reinvent itself every season - it just keeps developing its own thing.
