A bit of a different episode to start off 2026... We've been so busy over December that we couldn't do any episodes of Heard It On The Great Vines, so here's an overview of... 

SKATEBOARDING NEWS - DECEMBER 2025

Chris Joslin wins SOTY, TOTY, a Thrasher cover, a Street League and more

2025 was the year of the Joslin.

Chris Joslin secured his spot at the top, winning Skater Of The Year 2025, with his 'G-Ma' part, in which he big flipped Wallenberg AND tre flipped El Toro in honour of his recent grandmother who meant the world to him.

After getting jacked AF, Chris returned to El Toro after 8 years. The last time he went there, he was on Venture Trucks and Etnies shoes. His Venture Truck broke on impact, the try he stomped the perfect 360 flip, throwing him off on the roll away. Since then, Etnies dropped him and he left Venture. He returned with his new sponsors, Lakai and Independent Trucks.

He also made a video chatting about his signature colourway of the Lakai Telford, where he slags off Etnies a bit 😂

Landing the tre bolts was not only an achievement for him, but arguably saved Lakai's slippy slope. They were suffering as a company, with new ownership and poor shoe sales. Chris saved the day with the potential trick of the decade.

TJ Rogers - A close second in the SOTY

TJ Rogers is my GOAT, beating testicular cancer, stacking loads of footage all the time and doing it all with a smile. In 2026, TJ released about half a dozen parts in 2025, each better than the last. 

Although he just missed out on being Skater Of The Year, TJ had an awesome year, settling in on Sk8mafia and És footwear where he seems at home.

Lil Dre joins Girl Skateboards

Lil Dre finds a new home at Girl Skateboards. He's quite a trendy pick for the Girl team; you usually expect more blokey blokes when you think of the Girl team... ironically.

Lil Dre has a lot in his bag and is fun to watch; I'm hyped to see him on Girl. The tune is terrible, but this is a great intro to the team. Lil Dre can front crook anything!

The National Skateboard Co. drop a team video to end 2025

I love the National Skateboard Co. team, and Dee Collins is a favourite among the shop locals. The skating is of top quality, the tunes are good, and the filming is 4:3 perfection. A proper good UK video.

Baker Skateboards introduces new rider Mingus Gamble in new

Baker Skateboards introduce Mingus Gamble with a couple of minutes of footage, and he looks like a good fit! It wasn't really a part, just a chunk raw clips. He's got cool curly hair and skates with a lot of power.

New Spencer Nuzzi footage to start the year!

I know Spencer Nuzzi from old Ride Channel trick tip videos and he's always been a chilled out dude I wanted to see footage off when I was a teenager, so it's sick to see him release a part showing what he's been up to during 2025.

The music's a little heavier than I expected at first but it mellows out to Spencer Nuzzi chill vibes on the second track.

Young Ginwoo releases a part with Hollywood 16 NBD

Ginwoo Onodera has had an insane year too! He grew a few feet, turned pro and maybe won a street league, but I don't really care about street league. I don't know if anyone does... maybe.

Anyway, young Ginwoo must have the worst outfits in skateboarding, following street league veteran Nyjah's path. In this part, there's a couple violations we're gonna let slide but god damn... the kids nuts.

He absolutely spams front blunt varial flip out, as well as other techy front blunt tricks. The kid is so good, and his tune selection is awesome. All he needs is better outfits (stop being a Nike gremlin) and to grow out of looking like a girl, and he'll be awesome!

Bam referees a game of skate down Hollywood 16

As mental as it sounds, the Dern Brothers really held a fat game of skate down Hollywood 16 with some insane consistency in the back-to-back lands. The Dern Brothers have a great channel if you're new to them, doing spot history videos where they actually skate the spots.

It was great to see Bam Margera getting involved and having some clean fun, he's a character that the skateboarding community welcomes and for good reason.
