Heard It On The Great Vines skateboarding news cover - 29 September 2026

Welcome to another episode of

Heard It On The Great Vines

where we talk about the latest skate videos, skateboard magazines, brands, skatewear & gossip that's been released over the last week or so.

This week, everyone has apparently gone to Greece. GX1000 went to Greece. Volcom went to Greece. New Balance avoided Greece and went to Seattle instead. We've also got a huge new Ryuhei Kitazume skate part, five years of Rome footage and a proper Cornish documentary about what a good skate park can do for a village.

Get a brew on. Here is the latest...

SKATEBOARDING NEWS

Thrasher Weekend: NB in Seattle

New Balance Numeric bring the big lads to the Northwest

Tiago Lemos, Franky Villani, Jamie Foy and the wider New Balance Numeric crew spend nearly 25 minutes stacking some clips at Seattle's roughest spots.

The Thrasher Weekend format is cool, giving a real skate trip insight. You get some shananigans between spots and enough a look at Pacific Northwest's finest concrete. Crusty. The New Balance team has enough skills to handle them.

GX1000: Greece

GX take their hill-bombing habit to the Mediterranean

GX1000 have found another country full of granite plazas, steep streets and places that look better at dangerous speeds.

Willow Voges Fernandes, Chris Pfanner, T4, Rob Bootes, Zack Krull, Sean Greene, Eddie Cernicky, Doobie and a massive supporting cast get ten minutes. Greece looks beautiful, the spots and inclines especially. The perfect spot for a GX skate trip

ROMAN FOR LAKAI

Roman Hager gets five minutes to himself

Welcome to another episode of Lakai trying to come back from the dead.

Lakai have handed Roman Hager a full five-minute skate part, filmed by Cage Cocalis, Gunner Beck, Luke Lutz and Noah Lee. Roman has appeared in Lakai trips for a while, but this feels like a proper introduction rather than another shared montage. It is a quality part.

Kaede Terauchi - Eye of the Storm

Kaede willingly ruins another pair of skate shoes

Pocket Skate Mag's latest skate video is titled “only skating in water”, and it has an accurate title. Kaede Terauchi spends the part splashing about in some awesome water spots. Innovative.

The whole thing was made by Naoya and runs for just under seven minutes. It is creative without looking like a forced spot-challenge video, and the commitment to wet socks deserves respect. Soggy.

RYUHEI KITAZUME - FULL PART

Three years of Ryuhei footage in one Tightbooth part

Tightbooth call this the culmination of Ryuhei Kitazume's skate footage from 2023 to now. It is a nine-minute Shinpei Ueno film, with Naoya Morohashi, Shingo Ogura and Kyota Kamei behind the cameras alongside a long list of additional filmers.

Ryuhei has kept a high standard of powerful technical skate footage for years, and this does not feel like leftovers from Lenz III. The filming, sound and graphics have that unmistakable Tightbooth finish.

Followed: Gui Silva

A day in São Paulo with one of Brazil's best

Pocket follow Gui Silva around São Paulo for 18 minutes and give us a bit more than the usual skate part can.

Gui's skating has that rare mix of power and finesse where nothing looks weak or forced. Marcos De Souza filmed the day and Dominik Schneider edited it. If Ginga made you want more, this shows the person behind the ridiculous pop. Power.

AWFUL BLISS

Five years of Rome skate footage

Simone Rocca spent five years making AWFUL BLISS, a 22-minute snapshot of the Rome skate scene and an era he says will never come back.

Tommaso Molinari, Pedro Cabral, Antoine Combes and Riccardo Melle lead a cast long enough to fill a DVD case. This is why full scene videos matter. You get the spots, people and feeling around the skate scene, not ten isolated clips from 10 different filmers.

Marca Barbier - Fine Grit

Three minutes, no unnecessary explanation

Marca Barbier gets a clean three-minute skate part filmed and edited by Max Kushewski, with music from Alan Bell.

That is the official description. No dramatic countdown and no paragraph claiming skate culture has been redefined. It is just a good short part on Free Skate Mag that you can watch before your tea goes cold. Perfect.

Volcom - Road Tested: Greece

A second Greek skate trip in the same week

Volcom also spent two weeks in Greece, but this one brings several generations together. Omar Hassan joins Simon Bannerot, Eniz Fazliov, Harry Lintell, Lucien Gourdal, Liv Lovelace, Thanos Panou, Theo Clarke and plenty more.

Paul Labadie and Zoolz filmed the trip, with Labadie editing. The crew moves through Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras and smaller towns, mixing untouched perfect skate spots with swimming, vans and all the other non-skating stuff in the skate video.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE

What one skate park did for Millbrook, Cornwall

Sonny Holland spent six months filming and editing this 15-minute documentary in his home village of Millbrook in Cornwall.

It speaks to people who skated the old park, helped make the new one happen or only started to skate after it was built. Saving the best 'till last, this is the most important video here for us in the UK, especially showcasing the hardships of UK skateboarding and its scene. It shows what happens when a small community gives skateboarders somewhere to go.
