Krooked Skateboarding

Welcome to another episode of

Heard It On The Great Vines

where we talk about the latest skate videos, skateboard magazines, brands, skatewear and gossip that's been released over the last week or so.

This week, Supreme have sent a fairly ridiculous crew to Seoul, Anthony Van Engelen is still skating like somebody has upset him and The Skate Nomad has gone somewhere most of us would be too frightened to book an Airbnb.

We've also got Dustin Henry making Vancouver crust look fun, Matt Gottwig and his dog, a stupidly long ledge in New York and proper scene videos from Portugal, Azerbaijan and London.

Get a brew on. Here is the latest...

SKATEBOARDING NEWS

Supreme - Seoul (2026)

Supreme get in, get clips and get out of South Korea

Johnny Wilson filmed Kader Sylla, Troy Gipson, Hugo Jansen, Patrick O'Mara, Chucky Lane and Ren Jiahao in Seoul, South Korea. It is only a minute and a half long, which feels slightly lazy with a skate crew this good.

The city gives them loads of clean granite, strange banks and all the rest of the magical, perfect untouched skate spot texture pack found throughout Asia. Kader does Kader things, everyone is dripped out in Supreme, and it ends before there is any chance to get bored or be fully invested. Classic Supreme skate content, really.

FA - Sent to Collections

Anthony Van Engelen runs the show

Three minutes of Anthony Van Engelen, filmed by Cody Green and Benny Maglinao. That sentence should be enough on its own to warrant your time. There are other ways to spend 3 minutes, but others may be more disappointing.

AVE has been one of the most powerful blokes on a skateboard for about a hundred years and still skates like he could knock a wall out. Ave showcases some powerful street skating, filmed properly and put online. More than enough.

I Went Skating In Ukraine

The Skate Nomad visits Odesa during the war

This is obviously not a normal sunny skate trip project. The Skate Nomad travels to Odesa and meets Ukrainian skateboarders trying to keep some normality while a war is happening around them.

There is skating in it, but the important part is hearing from the people who are still keeping the local skate scene moving through air-raid warnings and everything else. The Skate Nomad also uses his foundation to take skate equipment to communities around the world. Keeping a skate scene alive means something a bit different here.

New Balance Numeric - Grand Collection

Grand Collection get two New Balance Numeric skate shoes

Brian Reid, Spencer Hamilton and Brandon Westgate introduce Grand Collection versions of the Numeric 770 and 508 in a tidy two-minute edit by Tyler Wilcox.

It is a line-up that makes sense. The shoes are actually really clean, and the filming (4:3 😍) and music choice are excellent. As a lot of New Balance Numeric content, it is half skate video and half advert, but a good skate advert is cool when done right. These will probably look better once you've ruined them.

Dustin Henry - Thunder Trucks

Vancouver crust and ledge tekkers from Dustin Henry

Thunder say Dustin Henry mixes Vancouver crust with ledge-tech worth a rewind, which is unusually accurate marketing copy.

Jake Kuzyk filmed and edited the two-minute skate part. Dustin has that loose, clever way of skating where an awkward spot suddenly looks like it was built for him. Nothing gets dragged out and there are a few clips you'll definitely run back. Vancouver crust and proper board control is a good combination.

Globe Skateboarding - Smokescreen

Globe bring a ridiculous team to London

Austyn Gillette, Mark Appleyard, Christian Maalouf, Val Bauer and Sammy Montano spend two and a half minutes skating London for Globe.

Aaron Brown and Matt Payne filmed it, so the capital looks as good as the team does. Seeing Appleyard and Austyn in the same short skate edit is a nice surprise. The rough UK spots also stop it becoming another polished shoe advert where every ledge looks freshly waxed for the occasion. London skate spots always help with the aesthetics.

Matt Gottwig's Blueberry Part

Matt Gottwig loves his dog and Krooked love Matt Gottwig

Krooked's entire official description is “Matt Gottwig loves his dog.” Fair enough. The actual skate part gives us just under three minutes of quick feet, odd spot choices and the sort of clips Krooked have always been good at finding.

It is short, slightly strange and does not explain itself. That is normally better than six minutes of somebody explaining what skateboarding means over slow-motion footage of a sunrise. Quick feet and weird skate spots will do us fine.

Jonny Palmer - Ease Up

Three minutes of Jonny Palmer easing up very little

Andrew Bansal filmed and edited this Jonny Palmer part for Free Skate Mag. That is all the official information we get, and to be honest, that is plenty.

Jonny spends three minutes attacking rails, banks and whatever else gets in his way. The video is called Ease Up, but the skating does not appear to understand the instruction. No filler, no fake drama and no ten-second vertical clips pretending to be a skate video. A proper short skate part.

QS x adidas Tompkins Square Longer Ledge Jam

Quartersnacks make the Tompkins ledge unnecessarily long

Quartersnacks and adidas built a 25-foot ledge at Tompkins Square Park, then handed out cash for tricks. Finally, somebody has found a sensible use for a footwear marketing budget.

Greg Navarro filmed the three-minute skate jam and the microphone commentary gives it the right amount of organised chaos. Long ledges expose weak legs and bad balance very quickly, so watching a queue of New York skate heads actually reach the end is satisfying. Apparently it will be longer next year. Twenty-five feet was not stupid enough.

FUDAYBUS by Comunicantes

A proper Portugal scene video from Comunicantes

Lourenço Ribeiro filmed and Joao Von Hafe edited this 11-minute Portugal skate video, presented by Quartersnacks.

FUDAYBUS is the one for anyone who wants more than a two-minute shoe advert. You get a full crew, repeated spots, local faces and enough time to understand the skate scene around them. Proper skate scene videos always age well because they preserve the people and places, not just the best trick somebody filmed that month.

FULLY BOOKED - Baku

Vague take a ten-day skate trip to Azerbaijan

Nick Vieweg's moving visual documentation follows Cillian Fitzpatrick, Jack Tompson, Tunar Süleymanov, Oktay Isayev, Vagif Mirzəyev, Ziya Huseynzadeh, Elkhan Eminov, Jacob Eardley and Rio O'Byrne through Baku.

The five-minute skate film accompanies a feature in Vague issue 52 and is dedicated to Rio O'Byrne. Baku gives the crew completely different architecture and spots, while the edit feels more like a small travel film than content being fed into a machine. This looked like a quality skate trip.
