Rip N Dip Spring Collection 2020 - Nermachu is Back!
The brand was founded by skaters Ryan O’Connor in Florida during a stay at skate camp in 2009. He and some friends were bored of the of the same old skate clothing that was being churned out by the big skate brands and so they started printing some tees in the garage of one of their homes. One of the first designs incorporated the slogan Rip N Dip. This caught the eye of some local skaters and O’Connor sprayed it onto his deck, and RipnDip was born!
RipnDip founder O’Connor moved to LA and here he met Keith Hufnagel, founder and owner of HUF, who taught him the ways to develop a business. With a clear aesthetic based around humorous and playful designs, the business and following began to grow. The aim of Rip n Dip is to provide a fun take on skate culture through their apparel and crazy accessories and bring people together in the RipnDip community. Lord Nermal, the provocative finger-flipping cat, embodies the RipnDip spirit and can be seen making appearances on much of each collection they bring to the table. The brand has moved into creating more refined cut and sew pieces like this seasons Multi Coloured Logo Hoodie. Whiles the designs retain a fun, light hearted aspect, the seriousness of the quality on these pieces should not be understated and compares favourably with value of more expensive, premium brands.
Alongside the usual Nermal and Lord Alien designs, Rip N Dip have developed their ‘Must Be Nice’ slogan, which has become an instantly recognisable slogan to be found running through their collections.
The brand has grown massively in recent years and is showing no sign of stopping. Their flagship L.A. store has been joined by is permanent location in Asia as well as pop-ups throughout Europe. Events like the RipnDip river Float add an element of surprise and they continue to keep us guessing what they will do next!
