“I had a really lovely upbringing. I did a lot of skateboarding down country lanes”
November has come...
Welcome to another episode of 'Heard It On The Great Vines'

SKATEBOARDING NEWS THIS WEEK
Atlantic Drift - Episode 16 - Vienna to Budapest
Atlantic Drift - Episode 16: Vienna to Budapest
The Atlantic Drift series, filmed and edited by Jacob Harris, has gathered a cult following for its raving lineup and trips to skate the most obscure spots the world has to offer. One of the things that makes Atlantic Drift unique is the cinematography. Jacob Harris brings a cinematic feel to skateboarding that’s rare in the scene.
Isle Skateboards 'Vase' is my favourite UK skate video, so it's no surprise that I love Atlantic Drift, as they host a lot of the same roster. They have a dream team, with regular features from Tom Knox, Cyrus Bennett, Casper Brooker, Mike Arnold, Max Palmer, Kyron Davis & Nik Stain. Steezy lineup. The soundtracks, B-roll shots and editing are always tasteful.
In a nutshell, it's the best series ever. This time, the crew browse the historic streets and modern spots of Vienna and Budapest 🇦🇱.
Why Episode 16 is a Must Watch
Vienna isn’t just beautiful to look at; it’s packed with skate spots ideal for creative lines and tricky approaches to clips. Atlantic Drift has always had a knack for scouting locations that encourage creative thinking. Vienna spots are mostly untouched, and the crew take full advantage of the city's natural flow.
Tom Knox, as usual, is on top form with rapid feet. His technical approach meshes perfectly with the city’s sharp, angular structures. Max Palmer's funky trick selection blows your head off... and Nik Stain gets eaten alive by flies while switch-hillbombing.
As the episode transitions to Budapest, the vibe changes & the energy amps up. The city’s mix of old and new, with brutalist Soviet architecture next to grand historic buildings, creates an intensity that comes through brilliantly in the footage. Budapest has become a bit of a hidden gem in the skateboarding world. It’s got a range of diverse spots, from smooth granite ledges to rough concrete banks.
Jason Park | Not Even Once 2
Jason Park is a unique human
On the other end of the cinematography scale, Jason Park releases the funniest part of the year. With debatably more creativity than Atlantic Drift, you won't see a single thing coming in this masterpiece. Watch this while you're blazed and you might shed a tear 🥲.
The Madness
Throwing wheelbarrows, tucking your skateboard into your pants, flipping your board off a tree... then jumping around on one. This part has got it all. It may not be as skilful as the Jason Park we see in 'A Happy Medium', but it's just as entertaining.
NOX SKATE | WILD WILD WEST MIDLANDS JAM
NOX SKATE
This is my crew of matey's, so excuse me if I big us up heavy.
With roots in Walsall in the Black Country, just North of Birmingham, NOX Skate is a crew that has been actively pissing off West Midlands security guards since 2014. Although pushing out insta clips and a few Iphone-filmed videos, the first legit video is due to drop around the start of 2025, so follow NOX for that.
The 2024 Walsall Arboretum Jam
After sick jams in 2022 & 2023, this year's jam was cowboy-themed 🤠 It began with a soaking wet skatepark, which nearly killed the day off completely. But everyone got together, with broom sticks and towels, and got to work drying it up. By noon, the park was dry enough to be shredded 💪 Team work makes the dream work.
With cowboy hats, sheriff badges and bandanas being handed around, the chaos began over tunes from the Wild West 🐎 The highlights will be shown in their upcoming edit on their instagram page, including a relay race, sessions on the down rail, hubba and quarter pipe, as well as the 'Ride the bull' challenge... a deck with no bushings. Daewon style!
OH HELLO
A video by Elliot Bonnabel, Supported by Vans
I haven't heard of anyone related to this project presented by Free Skate Mag, but the filming, editing and tricks were on point! Nothing to slag off with this one, it's a great watch.
Elliot Bonnabel brings us OH HELLO, featuring Nicolas Gisonno and Quentin Boillon. The duo dives into Mexico’s steepest hills and banks, explores iconic and hidden gems around NYC, and even went as far as hitting up the endless street spots in Paris. Feast your eyes on a quality duo and some banging guest clips at some heavenly spots.
TOBY RYAN : VENTURE PART
Who's Toby Ryan?
Young gun Toby Ryan is a 21-year-old kid from Cali repping Venture Trucks and Real Skateboards. You might remember him from the Wallenberg NBD he dropped earlier this year.
His Venture Trucks Part
Trick difficulty aside, Toby's gained some fans for having an effortless, we make it look easy! style. He's definitely got a big future in the skate world, so if you haven't heard of him, you'll be hearing more of him in the future for sure! Some standout tricks for me was the tree wallie to noseblunt and the effortless switch flip on the bump-to-bar.
I can't lie, although relaxing, I found the music pretty lame. Way too mellow... Toby looks mellow enough while executing gnarly shit. I'd have preferred a heavier tune, but hey, that's just me. The song wasn't insufferable like the Madjik video from last week.
A big future to come from Toby & we're excited to see it.
Yardsale | FREEDOM PLAZA
Yardsale's latest 5-Minute Banger
This one has that lineup that hardcore skate video enthusiasts enjoy... Bear Myles, Zach Smith, Curtis Pearl, Kelvinas Litvinas, Alex Hatfield, Stanley Pradel, and Thaynan Costa.
Credit where credit's due, whoever is responsible for the 3D Yardsale videos deserves a pat on the back. I believe it to be Dan Kreitem.
Freedom Plaza, Washington, DC
Watch the Yardsale team handle business at Washington's sickest plaza (to my knowledge), Freedom Plaza. A ledge haven with everything you want. It's smooth, there's tons of room and ledges and stairs are placed in a way which encourages creative line skating.
