Girl Skateboards last series of Mike Mo Pro Model Decks

Girl Skateboards Retire Mike Mo's Pro Model Boards

Mike Mo recently shared on Instagram that he's releasing his final pro model board with Girl Skateboards—a moment that's both nostalgic and emotional for those who have followed his incredible skateboarding journey. His career was nothing short of legendary. While it's disappointing to see it end sooner than many expected, sometimes things don't go as planned, and that's just the way it goes.

Early Beginnings and Rise to Fame

Mike Mo Capaldi, born in 1990 in Simi Valley, California, started skateboarding at a young age, quickly becoming known for his smooth style and technical prowess. His early years were spent honing his skills in local skateparks and on the streets, leading to his first major breakthrough in the late 2000s. Mike Mo gained significant attention after being featured in the skate video Forecast, which highlighted up-and-coming talents. His impressive performance in this video caught the eye of major sponsors, propelling him into the professional skateboarding scene.

Career Highlights and Innovation

Mike Mo's career took off when he joined Girl Skateboards and was featured in the legendary video Fully Flared in 2007. His part in the video is widely regarded as one of the best, showcasing his mastery of ledge tricks and switch skating. Beyond his video parts, Mike Mo has been influential in the skateboarding industry, co-founding Glassysunhaters, a sunglasses brand popular within the skate community. Despite facing setbacks, including a severe ankle injury in 2013 that impacted his skating, Mike Mo remains a respected figure for his contributions to the sport and his ongoing involvement in skate culture.

Monster x Green Day Skate Video

What on earth is this?

In celebration of Green Day's "The Saviours Tour", Monster Energy somehow came to the decision they should get some of their top skaters to star in a weird skit-filled confusing video. In my opinion, too much B-Roll... borderline cringy... Check it out 😂

Who's in it?

Collecting the Energy Drink Sponsor Cheque for this one includes the almighty weapon that is Nyjah Huston, Filipe Mota and Matt Berger.

Honestly, although there's some decent skating in this, I wasn't going to incude it. But you have to watch it, it's weird as fuck.

Cold Call: Jamie Foy

Who is Jamie Foy?

Chunky rail merker Jamie Foy has become a well-established Pro Skateboarder for Deathwish Skateboards and New Balance Numeric and Dickies Skateboarding

Foy's breakthrough came in 2017 when he was named Thrasher Magazine's Skater of the Year, a prestigious title that solidified his status in the skateboarding community. He is especially known for his mastery of the front crook and his fearless approach to rail skating, making him a standout in numerous video parts and competitions.

What's Thrasher Magazine's 'Cold Call' Series?

The Thrasher series is known for its authentic and raw insight into the life and background of your favourite skater.  Each episode highlights the unique styles and attitudes of the dude in question, with other pros giving their opinions and insights. Cold Call has become a favourite among fans for its genuine portrayal of the guys behind the clips.

Gavin Bottger's "Jazz June" Part

Who is Gavin Bottger?

Vans, Powell Peralta and Bones' Gavin 'Gavo' Bottger is any a babby! At 17, he's made a hell of a lot of impact in the scene. Being capable on transition, ledge and fat handrails, he's one to watch. As you can tell by his Energy Drink Sponsor Flex Red Bull Beanie, he got that energy drink mullah coming his way too 💸.

Gavo's 'Jazz June" Part

I can't lie... I was disappointed there was no Jazz, what's with the name!? He must of filmed it all in June or something.

Anyway, the skating's great and the alternative rock ain't bad either. Gavo handles some cracked handrails and manoeuvres some crusty banks. He's got the skateboarder uniform down to a T, but with that said, I really like watching him and can't wait to see what he does when he's all grown up.
